Chequers @ TTDI

by - 10/12/2015 04:11:00 am

It’s been an honour to be invited again for another food review. This will be my final September 2015’s food review with the food inkers! This time it’s at Chequers, an American-style café which had received number of positive feedbacks from their customers!

As I walk into the cafe, their ceilings caught my eyes. Don’t you think it does like waffles?! It does matches with their famous selling food, which are waffles.

These are Chequer’s best seller drinks:

1. Cucumber Cooler – RM 11
passionfruit and a dash of lemonade

2. Mud Soda – RM 11
chocolate, milk, root beer and ice cream

3. James’ Paradise – RM 11
fresh mind, hint of lemongrass and lime – it’s really refreshing!

Not to mention their mocha is good, too! (Ice – RM 13, Hot – RM 12)

After much dwelling myself with their fabulous drinks, it’s tasting time!

#1 Down Home Benny – RM 19.00
Savory waffle, beef bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, guacamole, watercress salad

Actually the above comic strip applies to all of the following meals which have waffles in it.

It was one of the best waffles I’ve ever tasted! T______T

Soft inside, crispy outside, where can you get such awesome waffles in Klang Valley?!?!?!

I know I’ve mentioned this at my Bingsu Café’s post, but most of the waffles I’d in other café is either too soggy or burn out. Chequers definitely had met my expectation!

Ok at least it meets my aunt’s expectation?

#2 Double Deck Croque Monsiuer – RM 18.00
Savory waffle, turkey ham and tomato wrapped with egg, served with cheese sauce, topped with a sunny side egg.

I loveeeee the cheese sauce!! I don’t know how to describe it but it taste so so… *continue licking the plate*

#3 Chicken Cobb Sandwich – RM 25.00
Savory waffle, marinated grilled chicken beef bacon, sliced tomato, boiled egg, guacamole, curry mayo, waffle fries.

I highly recommended their lunch meal! Everything is a BOOM here! You.should.try.THIS!

#4 Moo Moo – RM 28.00
Their signature waffle burger made with seasoned striploin beef patty seared to perfection. Served with homemade berry barbeque sauce, beef bacon, cheddar cheese, raisin slaw, and pickled relish. Comes with waffle fries.

Such a funny name they got here but that's not the point. The main point is You.Should.Try.THIS.TOO! Their barbeque sauce is simply sensational!

A clearer view of how it looks like in reality

#5 Grilled Chicken Steak – RM 28.00
Juicy marinated grilled boneless chicken with your choice of sauce. Served with fettuccine, oyster mushroom, and rolled turkey ham asparagus in tomato base.

Choices of sauce:
- Mustard
- Mushroom
- Black Pepper

Looks like Pan Mee but their pasta simply blows me away!

#6 Mango Shrimp Wrap – RM 23.00
Sautéed tiger prawns wrapped with marie rose sauce, tomato salsa, fresh mago and lettuce, comes with waffle fries.

This reminds me of McD’s breakfast wrap, in a much better version lol, and taste more refreshing IMO.

#7 Pesto Seabass – RM 34.00
Pan seared seabass cooked to perfection on a bed of pesto sauce. Served with seasoned roasted potatoes and stir fry asparagus topped with crispy ginger.

The potato was quite hard. Put aside, it was a fab dish!

#8 Melting Moments – RM 17.00
Chocolate chip waffle hand battered banana fritters, almond nibs, vanilla ice cream drizzled caramel and chocolate sauce.

Yes I LOVE that banana!

#9 Tropic Coconut – RM 17.00
Coconut waffle, fresh coconut meat, roasted almonds, coconut ice cream, fragrant pandan sauce.

It reminds me of sitting besides the beach, enjoying myself over a coconut drink at such tropical environment. I’m able to taste the strong, yet refreshing coconut flavour. It’s a perfect dish for a hot day!

#10 Deconstructed Tiramisu – RM14.00
Disassembled into waffle sticks, mascarpone cheese with chocolate shavings and a side of espresso shot.

My favourite dessert among all! Dip that crispy waffle with the cheese and espresso shot, how more can you get?

Well, I’m very much blown away with their awesome dishes they offered here. It’s no wonder they receive lots of positive feedback from their customers!

Another thing that surprises me is that Chequers’ owner is a pretty lady!

This is Michelle, owner of Chequers. #mensstandasideplease

Inspired by New York dinners, where they often had eggs, waffles, pancakes and toast as their breakfast, Chequers is an all American restaurant focusing mainly on waffles. From the simple criss-cross fries, onion rings, American breakfast of ham and eggs, French toast, pancakes, poached eggs, to philly cheese steak sandwich, different types of pasta, salad; it will definitely take a while for you to decide which to eat simply because you want to eat everything in the menu.

There are more types of waffles combination that you can imagine being in the menu thanks to their creativity. Be it savoury or sweet, you just want to try them all. You’re feel free to customize your own waffle as this is a luxury Chequers is offering their guests. Different combination of waffles also gives you different types of waffles. The spinach waffle, spicy waffle, extra-crispy waffle and so on is really making everyone happy with all the choices there.

Overall I’m very satisfied with Chequers, be it their environment or their food. I simply cannot think of any flaws they have at the moment (except the potatoes but it was highlighted to Michelle :)). It may look quite pricey for middle-class people like me. Nevertheless, you can always save some bucks if you bring a group of friends with you, as their meals are quite large portion.
